Thank you so much for dropping by my blog. As you know, Japan experienced a magnitude-9 earthquake on 11 Mar 2011. The earthquake hit the northern part of Japan, and we have continued to experience many aftershocks, some greater than magnitude-6.
A subsequent tsunami swept away entire villages with walls of water more than 30 feet high. It has killed thousands and left millions without electricity or water.
As of today, Mar 27th there are more than 10,000 confirmed dead, about 16,000 missing, and about 2700 injured. These figures are predicted to increase.
A nuclear power plant was hit by this devastating earthquake and tsunami. There have been several explosions at the power plant, and we are now battling to avoid a nuclear disaster.
It is difficult to see this tragedy right before my eyes.
We are in the beautiful "Ume"(Japanese apricot)season in Japan right now. However, in the midst of beautiful season, there are many people who lost their homes, loved ones, and fortune. Many have no water, electricity, heat, or supplies.
I would like to ask you to please donate money to the Red Cross to help survivors of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Please contact your national Red Cross/Crescent society, which may have already launched a fundraising campaign within your country.
